MINDTHEGAP Trio stands out on the contemporary jazz scene by showing an ensemble-led approach rather than the traditional single-leader scheme, allowing the music to benefit from shared creative development and the concept of unity through diversity. Their compositions are inspired by the multicultural diversity of Transylvania, with raw and emotional harmonic schemes blending improvised solos and complex rhythms, allowing the audience to enjoy a diverse and unique soundscape. With the support of the Romanian Cultural Institute / ICR YUMI ITO [CH] Yumi Ito - voice, piano Alessio Cazzetta - guitar Nadav Erlich - double bass Iago Fernández - drums "The Swiss-Polish-Japanese vocalist, pianist, and composer creates complex soundscapes with piano and vocal improvisation that stretch from pop to avant-garde." (Jazzwise Magazine) Yumi Ito is recognized by critics as one of the most original and exciting voices in contemporary jazz. Based in Basel, Switzerland, the award-winning artist performs regularly around the world and has shared the stage with Al Jarreau, Becca Stevens, and Mark Turner. A prize winner of the Montreux Jazz Competition, Yumi Ito was selected for the Focus Year Program under Wolfgang Muthspiel at the Jazzcampus Basel (2017–2018), received the High Priority Jazz Grant from Pro Helvetia (2022–2024), and was unanimously chosen by the jury for the European Showcase at Jazzahead! in Bremen (2024). With the support of the Swiss Embassy in Romania / Schweizerische Botschaft in Rumänien & Swiss Sponsors' Fund 5 VI PÁRNICZKY QUARTET [HU] András Párniczky - guitar Péter Bede - alto saxophone, tárogató (Hungarian flute) Péter Ajtai - double bass Ágoston Szabó-Sipos - drums European jazz is slowly moving away from the American mainstream style, retaining all its important values while creating an independent improvisational musical language. The Párniczky Quartet was created in 2016 with the aim of performing the bandleader's reworkings of Béla Bartók's compositions. The current repertoire includes elements of chamber jazz, contemporary classical and folk music. "Bartók Electrified is an excellent fresh and modern jazz project built on one of the greatest composers of the 20th century. Do not miss it!" — SK Jazz With the support of Liszt Intézet Bukarest VINCENT COURTOIS / ROBIN FINCKER / DANIEL ERDMANN [FR] LINES FOR LIONS Vincent Courtois - cello Daniel Erdmann - tenor saxophone Robin Fincker - clarinet and tenor saxophone After twelve years of existence, five repertoires and five albums, including the famous "Love of Life" recorded in California, a tour of the United States, dozens of concerts all over Europe, and still the same enthusiasm for getting together, the Courtois/Erdmann/Fincker trio has decided to confront its shared experience, its obvious complicity and above all its unique sound, with its natural reminiscences of West-Coast jazz. Was it a simple desire to explore or a need to pay tribute? Exorcising old demons or the need to get closer to unfulfilled loves? With their new creation, Lines for Lions, the unmissable trio continues to deepen its own musical language, nourished by multiple influences. With the support of Institut français de Roumanie à Bucarest 6 VI GIOVANNI GUIDI Trio [IT] Giovanni Guidi - piano Joe Rehmer - bass Enrico Morello - drums "Thanks to Joe and Enrico, I start from my repertoire to move towards more intense sounds and rhythms, with a nod to Alice Coltrane. Joe Rehmer (bass) and Enrico Morello (drums) are two travel companions with whom I have shared many adventures and audiences. This new trio is a way for me to explore a new freedom, starting from my catalogue to move towards more intense sounds and rhythms, with a nod to Alice Coltrane. The trio, after a first tour in South Africa and Namibia in May 2024, has developed both in the version with acoustic piano and with Wurlitzer, adapting to very different locations and moods." — Giovanni Guidi FRANCESCO BEARZATTI / GIOVANNI GUIDI [IT] Francesco Bearzatti - saxophone Giovanni Guidi - piano Narrator and innovator, everywhere a foreigner and yet profoundly Italian, a jazz musician irresistibly attracted to revolutionary processes in his eternal search for creation, Francesco Bearzatti returns to Green Hours for the second year in a row, this time presenting an incredible and poetic duo with Giovanni Guidi. With the support of Istituto Italiano di Cultura Bucarest 7 VI SLOWKLANG [AT] Amina Bouroyen - vocals Robin Gadermaier - e-bass, foot organ Robert Unterköfler - saxophone With a lineup of voice, saxophone and bass, the Vienna-based trio slowklang creates unorthodox, decelerated soundscapes that exist between song form and advanced improvisation. Improvisation meets atmospheric sounds, spontaneity meets emotionality. "Three exciting young talents of Austrian jazz (...), they sharpen their profile in a distinctive way with the trio's original music." — Ö1 Jazz editorial team With the support of Österreichischen Kulturforum Bukarest MATTHIAS LINDERMAYR / CHRIS GALL [DE] Matthias Lindermayr - trumpet Chris Gall - piano "...Matthias Lindermayr possesses one of the most mature, structured, and relaxed trumpet tones that has emerged in Germany in recent years." (Jazzthetik) "Chris Gall provides evidence that jazz is alive and kicking in Germany." (Jazzwise Magazine) With the support of the Goethe-Institut Bukarest
