Open Workshop: No Frontiers

Despre eveniment

Friday, September 4th, starting at 6 PM, we invite you at /SAC @ Mincu Gallery (str. Academiei 18-20) for an open workshop led by Anastasia Comănescu. The workshop will take place in the context of the exhibition OFFSIDE and will be held in Romanian. Free entrance. Open Workshop: No Frontiers proposes an open conversation about studying art in Germany, access to art education, and the concrete opportunities available to young artists from Romania. Drawing on her own experience as a student at the Kunstakademie Münster, Anastasia Comănescu will talk about her journey - from preparing her portfolio and the admission process, to everyday life at a German art academy. The workshop will provide a direct perspective on how educational institutions can become a genuine launching pad for artistic practice: access to ceramics, metalworking, printmaking and digital art workshops, affordable materials, support from professors and technicians, as well as the freedom to experiment throughout the entire course of study. Anastasia Comănescu will discuss why it can be worthwhile to pursue a second university degree in Germany, the concrete opportunities offered by an art academy - from scholarships to artist residencies - different ways of financing one’s studies, career prospects after graduation, and why the German language is not as difficult as it may seem. Participants will also have the opportunity to see a concrete example of a portfolio that was recently accepted by the Kunstakademie Münster, belonging to a future student whom she mentored at the beginning of this year. The workshop is part of /ZAC LA MALMAISON, cultural project co-funded by the Administration of the National Cultural Fund. The project does not necessarily represent the official position of AFCN. AFCN shall not be held liable for the project’s content or any use to which the project outcome might be put. These are the sole responsibility of the beneficiary of the funding.
